Promoting Personal Growth, Family Life and Community Development
The following courses are currently available:
MONDAY
HEALTH EDUATION COURSE
FOR WOMEN WHO WANT TO IMPROVE THEIR HEALTH AND WELLEING.
The course looks at topics such as Health and Wellness; Stress Management; Women's Health; Addiction to prescription and over the counter medication and more. The exact topics will be decided by the group.
This course is delivered in partnership with Mc Keagney's Pharmacy and is funded by CDHN. It will provide an opportunity for community members and our local pharmacy to learn from each other about issues affecting health. It will also be good craic!!
A certificate of completion will be awarded.
Participants will be asked to commit to completing the course, lasting 14 weeks, from September 2011 to the end of January 2012.

COST: As CDHN have generously funded this course Springwell Centre is pleased to be able to offer 15 places at low cost to participants. The fee is £30, but £20 will be refunded if you complete the course.

STEPS TO EXCELLENCE
This very popular personal development course is based on proven Cognitive Psychology principles.
It introduces a number of ideas to show that the way we think affects our everyday life and even how we feel. By learning and using new thinking skills, we can build a better life, make positive plans for the future and achieve our goals.
STEPS can help you
- understand why you think, feel and act as you do
- look at self talk, and how it affects daily life
- find out what's relevant from the past and what isn't
- increase your confidence and believe in your own ability
- set and achieve goals
- feel good about yourself
Three OCN Level 2 credits may be obtained on completion of STEPS.
The course runs on a Monday evening from 7:30 - 9:30, date to be arranged

TUESDAY
ESSENTIAL SKILLS COMPUTERS
This 16 week course is designed for those with little experience of computers. It introduces the internet, e-mails and much more. City and Guilds credit is awarded on completion.
This course is run in conjunction with Southern Regional College.

HOMEWORK CLUB FOR POLISH FAMILIES
This club provides support with school homework for children aged 8-11 years, and their parents.
DATE: Tuesdays, September onwards
TIME: 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
WEDNESDAY
BLUE LIGHT FIRST AID
First Aid course with qualification.
Full attendance at all sessions will be required.
DATE: To be confirmed subject to numbers.
COST: £60

ENGLISH THROUGH PLAY
An after school club to promote spoken English, for Polish speaking children aged 4-8 years and their parents.

THURSDAY
PARENT SUPPORT GROUP
The parent support group is a partnership between Springwell Centre and Southern Health and Social Care Trust, Young People's Partnership.
This 10 week course for parents of young people aged between 11 - 18 years addresses the following topics:
- communicating with your young person
- behaviour management
- educational concerns
- anti-social behaviour
- looking after your own needs
DATE: Thursdays
TIME: 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
COST: There is no fee for this course, as it is subsidised by the Southern Health and Social Care Trust.
Parents who are experiencing difficulties with their young person at home, in school or in the community are invited to phone:

Parents who complete the programme may go on to join the Parenteen Association, an ongoing peer support group which provides opportunities for training and personal development.
FRIDAY
ENGLISH FOR SPEAKERS OF OTHER LANGUAGES (ESOL)
An English Language class for speakers of othern languages, in partnership with Southern Regional College.
DATE: Fridays
TIME: 9:30 am - 11:30 am
COST: £75 (employed); £60 ( in receipt of benefits)
THROUGH THE EYES OF A CHILD
This 6 week course will look at family life and behaviour management through a child's eye. It will provide an opportunity for parents of primary school children to share experiences and develop skills.
It will also be very enjoyable!!
